+ I have not come to call the virtuous, but sinners to repentance. +

Luke 5:27-32

Jesus invited a Tax collector, Levi to follow Him and he left everything and followed. Levi held a great reception in his house and a large number of tax collectors and others gathered. The pharisees and scribes complained saying “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”
Jesus said in reply, ‘IT IS NOT THOSE WHO ARE WELL WHO NEED THE DOCTOR, BUT THE SICK. I HAVE NOT COME TO CALL THE VIRTUOUS, BUT SINNERS TO REPENTANCE.’

Pray: You do not want sacrifices, Lord but You want repentant hearts. Grant us the grace to acknowledge our sins, known and unknown, have sorrow for them and repent so that we can be restored in Your Glory.

Create a pure heart in me, O God.
Put a steadfast spirit within me.
Do not cast me away from your presence.
Nor deprive me of Your Holy Spirit.
Amen.
